 Warranty - beware August 30, 2010

I bought a 1018 from a Nesco dealer. The first time I plugged up the dehydrator and turned on the motor, it sounded like a screwdriver was hitting the fan blades. I took the trays off, and the sound stopped. The trays were all warped and causing the fan shroud to push into the fan blade. I contacted the vendor and they said the manufacturer was responsible. I called the manufacturer and they said that I could return the 2 week old item for repair AT MY COST. The "helpful" customer service lady (insert sarcasm here) at Nesco said that me paying for shipping was in the warranty and I should have read the warranty beforehand, then hung up on me. Maybe "made in America" is not what it used to be.

Our ancient dehydrator began to fall apart a few weeks ago and after researching a replacement, we decided to go witht the Nesco 1018P 1000watt unit. Though somewhat noisy in operation (it is fan driven - our old one was just a heating element), it works extremely well and we are very pleased with it. Also, the folks at Nesco are very helpful and quick to help with any problems or questions that may arise.

This equipment is great. 1000 watts of power, eight trays, eight fruit trays, eight no-stick-um trays. My second one, 1st one only lasted some 18 years. Most others(unless commercial)only have 700 watts of drying power. You can load all eight trays with your favorite, and this dehydrator will do the job. I use this probably about 2 to 3 times per week, no problems, no fuss, just turn it on, set your thermostat, and your Nesco American Harvester will do the rest. I highly recommend this machine, it is constructed well, engineered will, and will take care of business.

As an avaid gardener, canner and food preserver I guarantee that You won't be dissapointed with it. Great product, Heavy duty, absolutely the best. Definately not like its cheaper competitors - worth every cent. Don't be fooled by the claims of others, this is the one to buy.

We are enjoying our dehydrator. All the additional items that come with this product are very useful. It sounds like a microwave when in operation, but since we keep it in the kitchen, it's not a bother. You can place different food items in the dehydrator at the same time and the flavors do not mix.
